As the proverb says … “Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times”  Check out some relatively low cost ideas off the beaten track from Dublin.

 Venice

Everyone should witness Venice Carnival once in your life. Dust of your vintage masks & cloaks as party atmosphere will be electric for the 2 weeks of the carnival. A trip to Venice would not be complete without a ride on a gondola but for your own sakes don’t ask to hear ‘ O Sole mio’ as its not from Venice and they are likely to grind their teeth! After the Carnival see for yourself why Venice is consistently voted the most romantic city in the world.  ps top tip, always check the prices in the tourist areas. Lounge like a local and Sip an espresso at the bar!

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is the pearl of the Adriatic and one of the most beautiful Tourism destinations in the Mediterranean. This Port city is steeped in history and its known as the only city to become part of the Napoleonic empire without a single shot fired. Dubrovnik boosts picture perfect aqua marine water which is perfect for dip. Eagle Eagle Eyed fans of the Game of Thrones will recognize Dubrovnik is the setting for the Kings Land.

A bit further afield …

Camino de Santiago

Are itching to take on the Camino after seeing the Way?  Camino de Santiago is 800kms long and takes approximately five weeks to complete. You do not have to be an elite athlete & can start your Camino at any point on the starting in France, Portugal and Spain. Christmas Time on the Airport Hopper

Christmas Message from the Airport Hopper Team

Airport Hopper Service over Christmas

Ho Ho Ho and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

Reminder we are operating a full service every day except Christmas & St. Stephen’s Day. At which stage our lovely drivers will take a well deserved rest indulge in some Christmas Pudding and spend quality time with their families. Check out our Maynooth Timetable & Tallaght Timetable. While we will be operating a full  schedule,  we are at the mercy of traffic which is out of our control! Typically inclement weather (which we are  already getting a blast of) and heavy traffic are recipes for heavy traffic and possible delays! We will do our best to keep you updated  however please log onto our  Real Time Positioning Tracker which will tell you the location of your nearest Airport Hopper Shuttle.  Don’t forget to ‘Hail the Hopper’ to let us know that you will be joining us on board.

Dublin Airport at Christmas

There is something particularly magical about Dublin Airport at Christmas Time. You have the excitement of people returning home for Christmas  and even those leaving our shores to visit friends and family. While the atmosphere is electric, our sources at the Airport told us that it is particularly congested at present.  Get through Security early and pick up some last minute presents in the Loop 🙂 Soak up the festive atmosphere.  Here are some of the delights that await you at Dublin Airport.

Lucan Festival

Join us for Family Fun at the Lucan  Festival

It’s the final Hurrah of the Summer! While technically we are in Autumn, Lucan village is going to be hopping for their annual Village Festival.  It’s the 10th anniversary of this family festival which promotes life in the gorgeous village.  The Airport Hopper is delighted to take part in this year’s festival and to celebrate our integral part in the Lucan community. The Lucan Festival will take place of  3 Action Packed Fun-Filled Days:

Friday:

The festival will literally kick off with a bang with an amazing display of fireworks at the Weir in the heart of the village. Make sure that you are in place at 8.20pm as the firework will go off around 9 pm. Following the pyrotechnic display, raid your wardrobes and head to  Kenny’s Courtney’s and Carroll’s for the Annual fancy dress competition.

Saturday:

The scenic grounds of the Italian Gardens and Residence Lucan House will play host to the Festival Fundraiser.  Expect to see Falcon Display, Fighting Kites, Ukelele Band and Acrobatic Group.  Kids will love playing with Ivan the Viking, Mr Bubbles and the Messy Play Area for Tots.  This fundraiser will charge €5 for Adults and Children under 12 are free with an adult.  Children will also have to help round up the Gnomes which are roaming around the village!

Sunday:

This is the highlight of the festival and it promises to be an exceptional day. Come and find the Airport Hopper Team close to the Main Stage and get your face painted and have a chat with our friendly staff.  The Duck Race will be at 4:30 in the afternoon following the rafting over Lucan’s stunning wier.  Lucan Village will be rocking to the Sweet sounds of the Rock Stage with 8 bands strutting their stuff.  On the opposite of the village beside  Kenny’s Pub, you will find the second stage which will feature local Children’s  Groups and Community Entertainers.
